Who Are We? The Bowen Island Community Foundation, a non-governmental community foundation, was founded in 2001 and received its Tax Status in December 2002. It is a collection of funds that form a permanent endowment for charitable purposes. The Foundation administers funds, through the Vancouver Foundation, which come from bequests, living donors, endowments or nonprofit organizations and other gifts. Grants are made from income generated from the investment of the funds. How do we operate?We have a wonderful volunteer Board of Directors:: - Murray Atherton, Chair: - Joyce Ganong, Vice Chair/Secretary; - Keith Ewart, Treasurer; - Bob Andrew, Dee Elliott, Daron Jennings, Shari Ulrich, Dave Witty, Directors which is responsible for the overall policies and practices
of the Foundation.
The Investment Committee works through the Vancouver Foundation, who manages hundreds of millions of dollars each year, and takes responsibility for the Foundation's investments and for its general administration.
